Swing and a Miss

Posted on May 28, 2009 at 7:45 in Trading Desk by Ryan O'Keefe

Looking back on my USD/JPY thoughts I underestimated the strength Dollar would enjoy. It seems the risk appetite eased enough to send this pair much higher than I thought it would overnight. I was stopped out on my small sell position but that is fine. Sometimes you swing and you miss, it’s the nature of the business.

Back later tonight with my regular long term analysis. I hope your having a great trading week!

I’ll have a look at $usdjpy tonight at Tokyo open. The US 10 yr yield has tanked today so expecting the pair to follow down as the two have been heavily correlated lately.
All to do with these “Yield craving” Japanese investors

Hopefully I’ll be luckier than you,
    Best,
    C.

    Hey Christian,

Yeah looks like you had the better idea on this one. I was early on the fundamental side. It’s fallen off about 40 points at the Tokyo open. I hope you got some pips on that.

    Appreciate the comments!

Thanks Ryan. Yes I’ve got some of the move down but was a bit late. The pair started moving before 8 pm. If you want to discuss your trades with a community of traders, why don’t you join us at http://www.stocktwits.com. It’s part of tweeter but for traders like us.

    Howdy Christian,

Glad to hear you got a piece of that move even if you were late, profit is profit eh?

Thanks for the link, that is an interesting site. I’ll mess with it over the weekend.
