Week beginning swings

Posted on July 13, 2009 at 2:44 in Market comment, Market forecast, Operators' intentions by Dr. S. Sivaraman

EURO and GBP are expected to make swings between high and low during Japanese session.During European session they are expected to swing and go above the high and then slide again as volatile move and during US session swing and firm up moves are expected as week beginning false move.During that time USD/YEN is expected to firm up slowly during the day.

From tomorrow more active moves are expected for EURO and GBP to gain.

    Good day Dr. Sivaraman,

how do you see the move we saw today early japanese session when EUR and GBP touched daily highs?

I closed the longs opened on Friday with profit, waited for the price to drop to open a new long position at lower prices.

Do you think we could see higher levels for the european currencies in these two - three days?

    Regards

    Hi Dr

When you say “undercut the low for 30 min or 2 hrs” you don’t mean by 1 or 6 pips, you mean a new level, 15 or more (ish)?

  4. on 13 Jul 2009 at 6:50 am4smith

    Dear Doc,

The majors started the week with huge drop. So is this the initial move and we will see rising this week? However you mentioned earlier “during US session swing and firm up moves are expected as week beginning false move”.
Which session’s move show us the false move?

    regards
    smith

  5. on 13 Jul 2009 at 7:13 am5Dr. S. Sivaraman

    Dear Francesco & smith

We could see the high being cut during late european or mid US session today. They have cut the low now as week beginning false move.
    Regards
    Dr.Sivaraman

Are you expecting GU to hit higher highs in next 2/3 days? Thanks and regards..

    Thank you Dr.Sivaraman,

What do you think of AUDUSD?
I noticed an increase of volatility on this pair.

  9. on 13 Jul 2009 at 9:29 am9Pantani

    Dear Dr. Sivaraman

I am new to your blog and method so please excuse the question.

I am confused by the times you quote …. all GMT. London is currently on BST ie 1 hour ahead of GMT. Therefore, when you quote 08:00 GMT do you mean 09:00 London time currently.

Perhaps other readers may be able to help.

    Regards

    Pantani

    Hi Dr

the drop in gbp is slow - does that imply todays intentional move? Even if it’s a false move for the week is it an intentional move for today? Many thanks

  11. on 13 Jul 2009 at 9:47 am11su25

    Dear Doc
You say that quick moves are false moves, and slow moves are intentional moves. If the quantum of quick moves is more than that of slow moves, and the quick moves happen in succession, do we continue with the assumption that they are false moves? When can we start assuming that the false moves have indeed become the intentional moves?
    Thanks and regards

    Dear Doc,

you mentioned that in July 2 weeks of drops and 2 weeks of rise in EURO,GBP and USD/YEN as contrarian moves. What levels do you expect reachable in this period mainly in GBPUSD and USDJPY? the one sided move might push the pair 1.66 (GPB) and aruond 95.00 (JPY)?

    regards,
    smith

    Hi Dr

When the high/low is cut and stays above/below how long should one watch and wait until buying/selling in to the new level at a suitable dip? Many thanks

    Pantani,

Your understanding on GMT is correct.

su25 i have been following this rule for the last month writing down every end day net change in eur gbp aud and chf. The rule is best respected in second and third week. I noticed that if we have a negative net change at the end of monday this will be translated as false move and if you took a buy position let’s say at 20:55 gmt you will see profit by the end of the week(sometimes 150 pips early as 2 days and sometimes 100 pips -150 pips by the end of the week). So i will adapt the rule to a strategy that allows me to enter at the end of the day depending of the net change(one last thing…make sure that the net change is not 2 or 3 or 10 pips…the best signals are when you see 30 ;50 ; 100 ; 150 etc)

    Dear Pantani

you please check in live market quote page http://www.i-knowindices.com/saxo_bank.htm the curent time and relete to your local time - then try to follow the market in GMT time - this will help you to reach the market in any time rather than expecting the market to fit toyour local time as the market is 24 hrs in a day.

    Dear su25
the reversal of the quick move is hold and reverse with firming up move for 30 min and hence they stop cutting the new low - that is the reversal point.they make a quick drop and recover some and then make another quick drop and hold then reverse after cutting the new low by a few pips.

    Dear Doc
If currency pair xx/yy started to drop from 1000 to 900 quickly and then moves to 950 and then to 850 and hovers around 850 for 30 mins, and then moves to 830 and goes back above 850, this is the reversal point, correct? - i.e. the new low is not sustained by more than 10 (??) mins.
    Thanks

Dr you said 2 weeks drop and 2 weeks rise in eur gbp and usd jpy. 1 week of drop we had, does this week mean the second drop and then 2 weeks rise? or we should see something like 1 week drop this week rise next week drop and last week rise? Especially in usd jpy. Thank you

Same story in the markets again! Is this going to have any and at all. When is the big rise going to happen?

  32. on 13 Jul 2009 at 2:21 pm32johnra

    Dear su25
In comment 25 did you mean the move from 850 to 830 was a stop hunt?
    Kind Regards

  33. on 13 Jul 2009 at 2:25 pm33su25

    Dear Johnra
Yes, from what I understand, reversal is after a stop hunt i.e. cutting the low, but price not able to sustain below the new low.

    dear Doc,
sorry in advance for asking a question which you might have answered earlier already… when is the daily net change calculated? is it between 0130 and 0230 GMT or is it calculated for every session?
    thanks
    Ange

su25 or others who are more seasoned members- could you mind explaining this bit, if you see this request before the Doc (just to save him the trouble of having to repeat himself)

  37. on 13 Jul 2009 at 6:16 pm37Constantin Lucian

Well we use http://www.i-knowindices.com/saxo_bank.htm were net change is already calculated. Net change is calculated on a daily basis from 21:00 GMT to 20:59 GMT (24 hours)

  38. on 14 Jul 2009 at 12:04 am38jefe

    Constantin-

IIRC you were working on a chat room, did this ever develop?

  39. on 14 Jul 2009 at 3:36 am39Dr. S. Sivaraman

    Dear Ange
The previous day closing level is calculated by 21:00 GMT.,withat the current market level is compared and automatically the net change is updated during every pip move of the market throughout the day and is seen in live market quote page.
The initial high and low are set between 02:30-03:30 GMT.Then the market goes above cutting the initial high or goes below by cutting the initial low.
    Regards
    Dr.Sivaraman
