Expected market moves a day before NFP

Posted on October 1, 2009 at 6:29 in Market comment, Market forecast, Operators' intentions by Dr. S. Sivaraman

EURO and GBP are expected to swing between high and low and cut the low during close of Japanese session. Then drop during Early European session to recover some during late European session.SDuring US session they are expected to drop initially and then firm up towards close.the drops are buy opportunities in position trading to close during tomorrow - week end US session close.

    Good day Dr. Sivaraman,

for today do you expect that the lows seen during european session will be cut in US session before the firm up move?

    Thank you!

  2. on 01 Oct 2009 at 7:31 am2grow

Do you think the drop occurred during the Japanese session and is over for now?

  3. on 01 Oct 2009 at 7:32 am3grow

Do you think the drop occurred during the Japanese session and is over for now or will it resume?

  10. on 01 Oct 2009 at 10:45 am10Dr. S. Sivaraman

When GBP rises more than euro euro/gbp can drop more.

  11. on 01 Oct 2009 at 10:47 am11Dr. S. Sivaraman

    Dear vinesh

Since wide range swings are seen the drop may not be massive - quick drop and slow rise are expected during US session in euro and gbp- usd/cad is expected to swing and rise as contrarian move.
    Regards

With some luck, I applied Dr. insights and happy to just closed my short postions (opened since yesterday) for 4 lots of EUR/USD and hedgeing position, short 4 lots of EUR/JPY, I made $2.7K when coming back from work. Not bad for today. Wish all good luck and applying the insights from Dr in correct context to earn more. Happy trading.

    Thank you Dr. Sivarman,

do you think we’ll see sub 1,45 for EURUSD?

  15. on 01 Oct 2009 at 12:05 pm15jaydee

    dear doctor,
what should one do with the usd/jpy short position now? should one try to close it now as the late european session drop has not happened or waiting is still the better option?? if they dont drop it today, do you predict a drop tomorrow then?
    regards

Wonder if many of you took the advice from Dr to buy low - “During US session they are expected to drop initially and then firm up towards close.”the drops are buy opportunities” in position trading to close during tomorrow - week end US session close’. I just in and out after the US data released and made a few hundreds dollars. Take note and act calmly and decisively. All can do it.

I am delighted to share again that I took the expectation from Dr’s reply to Francesco that “EURO and GBP could make one more drop by 14;00 GMT data release and then rise from mid US session.” and bought EUR/USD and GBP/USD 1 lot each and got a quick return of a few hundred dollars again. I am taking a hit and run approach and it works quite well these few days. Perhaps you may want to consider. I am making close to $4K for today. Probably having good luck today.

  31. on 01 Oct 2009 at 3:45 pm31Masood

    Dr:
For the last week or so, we have been expecting EUR/GBP to reach .900 levels, and possible even .8900

In light of the news this week, do you still think this may happen? I understand that GBP had to rise more than EUR, but my understanding was that both were going to slide this week, so I am a little confused.

Thank you for clarifying, and I really look forward to your trading wisdom

    Respectfully,

    Masood

  32. on 01 Oct 2009 at 5:01 pm32TheJade1

    Masood,

I also have been stuck with long 2 lots of EUR/GBP @0.889 since 14 Sep and waiting for further good news to turn this losing trade over. My 2 cents worth is that tomorrow could be a turning point after the released of Non-farm Employment change. If there is still no clear direction, we may have to wait longer than 1 week to see 0.89. I believe things go up must come down and probably need to wait more patiently. Park this aside and try some other pairs base on the insights from Dr. to make some gains. The insights from Dr works wonder for me, hope all can also benefit more. However, we must be ‘dare’ to take positions base on ones calculated risk. Wish you good luck.

    Hello Jade:
Thank you for your insights. I think you meant to say you are short 2 positions, right? If you were long, you could have had a great payday by now..
I am a relatively new follower of Dr, but I have already learned a lot from his wisdom.
I will look at trading the EUR or GBP tomorrow, based on Dr. advice tomorrow
    Thanks again for your help

    Masood

    Masood,

Yes, it was a typo. You are right that I meant short. Thanks.
